He was born July 1, 1935 in Beardstown the son of Harry and Shirly Raak Alton. He married Doris J. Galeener in Springfield in 1957. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sally.
He owned and operated Alton and Company Contractors for 42 years.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; three sons, Steven J.(wife, Amy) Alton and David C. Alton both of Springfield and Thomas A.(wife, Cindy) Alton of South Barrington; four grandchildren, Andrew, Jessica, Taylor and Jason Alton and a sister, Barbara Hehmeyer of Shell Beach,CA.
Friends may call Sunday Jan. 13, 2008 from 3 to 6:00 pm at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel where services will be held 1:00 pm Monday Jan. 14, 2008 with Rev. Zina Jacque officiating. Interment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
