Helen M Kern

Helen was born February 13, 1938, in Shipman, IL, the daughter of Dale and Mildred Harris Gray. She married Victor C. Kern on June 2, 1957, at Salisbury Baptist Church; he preceded her in death in 2005.

Helen was employed with Franklin Life Insurance from 1956 to 1958 and then University of Illinois from 1978 to 1987. She was a member of Salisbury Baptist Church. Helen enjoyed sewing clothes for her children when they were growing up.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Harold and Lloyd Gray.

Helen is survived by her children, Vicki Kern-Short of Sherman, Pam (Paul) Beadle of Indianapolis, IN, and David (Daryl) Kern of Chicago; grandson, Marcus (Dr. Sarita Sharma) Washington of Troy, IL; nieces, Rita Taylor, Suzy Cox, and Jerry Lou Nuss; and nephew, Brian Gray.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at Salisbury Baptist Church, corner of Byron St. & IL-97 in Salisbury with Rev. Kevin Curry officiating.

Burial will follow at Salisbury Cemetery.
