Helen E. McManus

Helen E. 'Babe' McManus, 81, of Girard, formerly of Springfield, died at 6:43 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard. Helen was born July 1, 1923 in West Alton, MO, the daughter of John and Florence Blattner Nicholson. She married Frank J. McManus on August 30, 1942 in St. Charles, MO; he preceded her in death on July 16, 2004. Helen retired in 1976 from Illinois Bell Telephone Company where she had been employed as a draftsperson, for twenty years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: G. Patrick McManus and one great granddaughter: Jennifer Horton; one sister: Margaret Havener and son-in-law: Stephen G. Blakeman. She is survived by one daughter: Florence Blakeman of Riverton; eight grandchildren: Jim Clark, Rob Clark, Marianne Jolley, Sheila Horton, Ray Clevenger, Mike McManus, Rebecca McCarthy, Kyle Blakeman; several great grandchildren; one sisters: Elizabeth Dwiggins of Macon, MO and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Shockey officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
