

Helen L. Morse, 97, of Springfield, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at Millcreek Alzheimer Special Care Center in Springfield. Helen was born December 28, 1912, in Litchfield, the youngest of fifteen children born to William Luther and Cora Suzanne Windsor Anderson. She married John Henton Morse in Streator on July 19, 1940, he preceded her in death on June 19, 1986. Helen graduated from Gillespie High School, and Browns Business College. She organized and operated a babysitter service in Chicago for several years in the 1940s and was later employed by Standard Mutual Insurance Company in Springfield. She was a member of the Springfield Woman’s Club, the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, and the Brinkerhoff Foundation. Helen was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; and a son, John Charles Morse in 2002. Helen is survived by her son, David (wife, Carol) Morse of Springfield; two grandchildren, Jason (wife, Sandi) Morse of Noblesville, IN and Devin (fiancee’ Shannon Stinebaugh) Morse of St. Louis, MO; two great grandchildren, Bennett and Ellana Morse; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of a ceremony at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with the Reverend Deacon Martha Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 815 S. 2nd St., Springfield, IL 62704; the Brinkerhoff Foundation, 1500 N. 5th St., Springfield, IL 62702; or the charity of the donor’s choice.
