She was born in Parke County, IN, April 28, 1927 the daughter of Chester A. and Lydia A. (Beck) Thomas. She married Oliver Burton Richards March 27, 1947 and he preceded her in death, February 8, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lee A. Thomas and a grandson, Tom Richards.
Mrs. Richards worked as a secretary at Hummers Manufacturing and then retired after 33 ½ years as a burn technician at Memorial Medical Center. Helen was of the Baptist faith, a follower of Charles Stanley and a devoted supporter of the Benld Adopt A Pet Shelter.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Richards, her son, Gary Richards both of Springfield, two grandchildren; Patina Phillips of Springfield, and Brandon Richards of Jacksonville, IL.
Cremation Rites accorded by the Bisch and Son Crematory.
A graveside service with inurnment will be in Stout Cemetery, near Chatham, IL Friday, January 21, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Mark Gifford will officiate.
