Helen L. Santini

Helen L. Santini, 81, of Springfield, died at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. Helen was born June 9, 1926 in Springfield, the daughter of Bernard and Florence Englund Murphy. She married John C. Santini, Sr. on August 17, 1946 at Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Helen graduated from Sacred Heart Academy. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. An employee with St. John's Hospital, Helen retired in 1992. She was a devoted mother who took great comfort in her home, taking time to curl up and enjoy watching the Lifetime channel, soap operas, Chicago Cub games and Wheel of Fortune. Preceding Helen in death was her husband, John Santini, Sr.; her parents, Bernard and Florence Murphy; her sister, Bernadine Vogt; and a grandson, Nicholas Adam Santini. She is survived by her sons, John C. (wife, Vanessa) Santini, Jr. of Springfield, Nicholas Santini of Springfield, Mark A. (wife, Sharon) Santini of Fresno, CA; her daughter, Linda (husband, Gary) Dodge of Springfield; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary (husband, Howard) Hoehn of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield, IL 62703. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Illinois, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL 62707 or the charity of the donor's choice.
