Henry Lee Stapleton

Henry Lee Stapleton, 60, of Springfield, passed away at 11:19 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center. Henry was born September 15, 1941 the son of A.P. Stapleton and Minnie Lee Brown in Bradan, MS. He married Alice L. McClinton. Henry retired as a cook at Sebastian’s Restaurant in June 2001. He was preceded in death by his father: A.P. Stapleton, two sons: James Green, Curtis Criss and one daughter: Mary Ester. He is survived by his wife: Alice L. Stapleton of Springfield; seven sons: Robert (wife, Julie) Criss of Las Vegas, NV, Charles (wife, Annie) Criss of Delhi, LA, Tommy Green of Springfield, Louis Green of Springfield, Albert (wife, Lenora) Criss of Springfield, James (wife, Ira Jean) Criss of Delhi, LA, Cleotha (wife, Valerie) Green of Tallula, LA; five daughters: Shirley Holmes of Las Vegas, NV, Ethel Stapleton of Springfield, Catherine Dean of Greensboro, NC, Helen McDowell of Springfield, Delores Green of Springfield; mother: Minnie Lee Brown of Delhi, LA; six brothers: Buford Stapleton, Billie Stapleton, Benjamin Stapleton, Robert Lee Stapleton, Charles Stapleton, Chad Stapleton; seven sisters: Martha Johnson, Dorothy Stapleton, Sue Stapleton, Annie Nell Stapleton, Mary Stapleton, Linda Stapleton, Mattie Stapleton, fifty-five grandchildren; seventy-three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 12-1:00 p.m. and Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family of Henry Lee Stapleton is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
