

Hershel was born on September 16, 1971, in Hillsboro, the son of Vern “Sam” A. and Marjorie “Marge” (Sheppard) Oller, Sr.
He graduated from Chatham High School and attended vocational school. Hershel worked in maintenance at St. John’s Hospital for over 10 years. He was a member of a Ghost Hunters Society and would often go ghost hunting. Hershel loved old west reenactment, guns, camping, and fishing. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys. Hershel enjoyed music, playing his bass guitar, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Hershel is survived by his son, Anthony Oller of Bushnell; companion, Nicole Esparza; siblings, Deborah Heinz of Houston, TX, Vern A. (Kathy) Oller, Jr., Ronald Dale (Rozie) Oller of Springfield, Steve (Annie) Oller of Good Hope, and Donald (Cindy) Oller of Edinburg; and several nieces and nephews, including Greg Oller (fiancée, Sherri Tate), Stephanie Oller, Amy Conn, and Chris (Vickie) Oller.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield, IL. Due to COVID restrictions there will be limited capacity.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home with Sister Maira Barry officiating. Burial will follow at Thomas Anderson Cemetery in Palmer at 12:00 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions there will be limited capacity.
