Ingrid was born on December 19, 1939, in Goppingen, a small town in southern Germany, just as the threat of WWII became imminent. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Wilhelm and Magdalene Strese. Ingrid immigrated to the United States as a young bride, married to an American soldier stationed there after the war.
Among her most treasured milestones were the day she was granted citizenship to the United States on September 24, 1973, and her baptism at West Side Christian Church at the age of 75.
Ingrid was an avid gardener and an enthusiastic Cubs and Illini fan. She served central Illinois for many years as a realtor, with great love and passion for her clients, and she delighted in her real estate community. (We've heard many stories about those shenanigans.)
Her home was a hub of hospitality and gatherings for family, friends, and anyone who needed a place to be welcomed. She was a force of nature – a fierce lover and champion of the underdog.
She left an indelible legacy of faith, generosity, laughter, commitment to family, and contagious joy that shaped everyone who had the privilege to know and love her.
She is survived by her loving children, Frank (Sheryl) Miller, Ron (Suzie) Duff, Patricia (Aaron) Miller Rude, and Christine (Stephen) Duff Daniels, as well as 16 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
