Iona Y. "Yvonne" Sapp

She was born in Christopher, IL November 15, 1929 the daughter of Ted and Mary (Furlow) Rice. She married William Sapp Jr, July 31, 1948 and began her journey as a military wife. He preceded her in death October 24, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her son Gregory “Greg” Sapp in 2017 as well as two brothers, Neil and Carl Rice.

She was an honorary member of the ELKS and a longtime member of the Aqua Club. She was proud of her family and supported all of their endeavors.

Surviving are her son, Gary Sapp of Springfield, her grandchildren: Aaron (Andria) Sapp of Mandeville, LA, Cortney (Darrell) Sims of Crawfordville, FL, Ashley Sapp of Cincinnati, OH, and Amanda Sapp of Springfield, her great grandchildren: Logan Sapp, Olivia Jackson , Sammie and Raygan Sims, her sister Cheryl Benson of Lone Grove, OK and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation Friday, December 17, 2021 at Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL beginning at 11:30 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 pm. Pastor Paul Rose will officiate. Private family burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
