

Jack Clark, 84, of Springfield, died at 1:08 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center. Jack was born on February 28, 1923 in Havana, the son of Patsy E. and Mary E. Allen Clark who preceded him in death. He married Phyllis Fletcher; she preceded him in death. He married Laura Andrews on March 10, 1951 in Springfield. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, James Anthony Bridgewater; two brothers: Patsy and Charles Clark and two sisters: Mary Nerud and Marlene Geitner-Anderson. Jack was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, decorated with the WWII Victory Campaign Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal with one Bronze Star, one Overseas Service Bar and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was a member for over sixty years of the Taylorville VFW Post 4495 and American Legion Post 73, where he served as past commander. He was past-president of the Taylorville School Board and Taylorville Park District. Jack is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Laura Clark of Springfield; two sons: Phil (Carol) Clark of Jacksonville, FL and Norman Clark of Springfield; two daughters: Cathy (Ron) Bridgewater of Springfield and Camille (Nick) Moesch of Leesburg, FL; six grandchildren: Phillip (Anna) Clark of Katy, TX, Patrick (Shaunna) Clark of Overland Park, KS and Brian (Shannon) Clark of Calgary, Canada, Elizabeth (companion, Ino)Moesch of Chicago, Jeremy (Jeri) Bridgewater of Chatham and Ryan (Ellen) Bridgewater of Caseyville; seven great grandchildren: Phillip Clark III, Padraig & Emmet Clark, Ashlynn and Brinley Clark and Riley and Bear Bridgewater and one on the way; two brothers: Lloyd (Lu) Clark of Havana and Robert Clark of Mt. Prospect and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family welcomes friends to visit from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 17, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Reg Mills officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be provided. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
