

James, or Jimmie, as he was known, had the biggest heart a person could have. His passing will forever be felt by many. His friends, family, and anybody whose life had been touched by his presence will remember him for the man who would show up for the people he loved when called. We ask that you cherish the good times spent with him and the love he shared.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his father, Jim Clark; and son, Steven Clark.
He is survived by his parents, Lucy (deceased, Jim) Clark of Springfield and Sue Filson of Florida; daughters, Cassandra (Chris) Holton of Japan and Nicole of Minnesota; sons, Tony of Texas and Christopher of Kentucky; six grandchildren; partner, Susie Williams; brother, Braxton (Jolene) Clark of Jacksonville; sister, Kelly (Brian) Walker of Springfield; and one nephew.
Jimmie graduated from PORTA High School in 1984, and enlisted in the Army in 1989, serving until 1996, which included Operation Desert Storm.
After the devastating 9/11 attacks, Jimmie felt it was his patriotic duty to reenlist from 2002 until 2006 and serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He spent nearly 15 years proudly serving our country and has received several commendations. His military occupational specialty was 19 Delta Cavalry Scout. Jimmie was honored for his service through the award of the following medals; Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device, Army Commendation Medal, 4 Army Achievement Medals, 3 Good Conduct Medals, 2 National Defense Service Medals, 3 South West Asia Service Medals with Bronze Service Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and many ribbons. He was also certified as a combat life saver. Jimmie had many friends from his service, employment, and life adventures across the country, making a life-long chosen family whom he shared unmeasured bonds with.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, until the time of the Ceremony at 12:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery with military honors.
