J.D. was born in Springfield, May 27, 1976 the son of Leonard “Bud” and Debbie (Kerns) McTaggart. He was a graduate of Pawnee High School.
J.D. married Lori Jo Lemasters September 7, 2013 and she preceded him in death, November 20, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his father, Leonard “Bud”, his grandparents, and his canine companion, Phoenix.
J.D. worked on his family farm in the Pawnee area for many years. He was a member of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau.
He was well known as an accomplished slow pitch softball player and was a member of various teams throughout central Illinois. He played hockey as a youth and continued his love for the game playing in several adult leagues for several years. He was an avid Springfield Junior Blues and St. Louis Blues fan. He also was a strong supporter of the Springfield Slider’s Baseball Team. J.D. also enjoyed riding with Lori on their Harley Davidson as well as Jeep runs with several groups but especially the Peace Keepers.
J.D. was especially proud of his daughter Kinze, who survives. He is also survived by his mother Debbie, sister Stephanie McTaggart, his canine companions, Oshie and Mack, two step-daughters, several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The McTaggart family will greet family and friends Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024 from 4-7 pm at Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor Dustin Bramer officiating. Burial will follow in Horse Creek Cemetery, Pawnee, IL.
