James “Jim” F. Feuerborn, 85 of Springfield passed into the loving arms of our lord on Friday January 17th, 2025. Jim was born August 3rd, 1939, in Garnett, Kansas to Joe and Blanche (Adams) Feuerborn. He married the love of his life Susan L. Robinson on September 3rd of 1983. Jim was preceeded in death by his parents Joe and Blanche; two cousins whom Jim referred to as his sisters, Frankie Feasel and Lynie Tyler.
Surviving is his wife Susan Robinson Feuerborn, Brother-in-Law Dean and Linda Robinson of Champaign, IL and Brother-in-Law Brian Robinson of LaSalle, IL. Also surviving are four very special nieces and nephews who were the joy of his life and self-declared children, Heather Robinson of Bel Air, MD, Kelly Albert of Mahomet, IL, Kory and Ashley Robinson of Dunlap, IL and Shawn Robinson of Coralville, IA; Great Nieces Macy Albert of Mahomet, IL and Harper Robinson of Dunlap, IL and Great Nephew Carter Robinson of Dunlap, IL. Jim is also survived by many close cousins across the country in Minnesota, California, Texas, Florida, Colorado and Scotland.
Jim graduated from Garnett High School in Garnett, KS and went on to graduate from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. Following graduation Jim joined the United States Army serving as a medic in Germany and the Hebrides Islands. After returning from his service in the United States Army, Jim began his 37-year career in management with K-Mart where he eventually met his wife Susan in Peru, IL, eventually settling in Springfield, IL. Jim retired from K-Mart in 2001 but that was short lived. Jim was never one to stay still and began working for Lab Express and eventually becoming a greeter at Springfield Clinic where he spent 12 wonderful years where he loved helping patients and his coworkers.
Jim was an avid fan of the Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball team and all Football both collegiate and professional. It was not a Sunday in the Feuerborn household if Football was not on TV and Jim could not be heard cheering on the game. Jim was quiet man but always critically thinking and planning, that was the manager in Jim and up until his passing he was still planning for the future.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A time to celebrate Jim’s life will be from 10am-11:30am on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen St. Springfield, IL. A prayer service will start at 11:30am at Bisch and Son. Burial will be at a later day at Waltham Presbyterian Church in North Utica, IL.
