

James Calhoun Fleming, Sr., 77, of Chatham, entered the house of the Lord on Monday, May 14, 2012. He was the second son of Beryl Lloyd and Erline Calhoun Fleming, born December 20, 1934. He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece Renee Scott, nephews Sean and Stephen King, great niece Alison King and brother-in-law Glen King. He married Carolyn Ernst in 1956. Jim graduated from Ritenour High School in Overland, MO. He served in the United States Army and was a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He worked for a CPA firm in St. Louis for many years before moving to Springfield in 1974. Jim was a Master Counselor of the Order of DeMolay. He was an active member of Chatham United Methodist Church. Jim was proud of and devoted to his family. Mr. Fleming is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son Jim (Christa) Fleming of St. James, MO; daughters Kara (Thomas) Ade of Moline, IL and Trudy Fleming-Tucker (Jeff) of Springfield; grandchildren Amanda, Stephanie, and Megan Fleming and Ben, Susie, and Sam Ade; siblings, Bill (Blanche) Fleming of Harristown, IL, Elizabeth King of Tallahassee, FL, Trudy (Bill) Owens of Kansas City, MO, Mike (Margaret) Fleming of Mobile, AL and Kevin (Kate) Fleming of Mobile, AL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His family will greet friends from 4-7PM, Thursday, May 17, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. Visitation from 10AM until time of services at 11AM, Friday, May 18, at Chatham United Methodist Church, 104 West Chestnut, with Rev. Sara Isbell officiating. Burial at Graceland Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chatham United Methodist Church.
