Jane K. Kepner

Jane K. Kepner 90 of Springfield, died at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2006 at St. John’s Hospice. Jane was born August 30, 1915, in Seneca, IL the daughter of Daniel and Sarah O’Hare Comegys. She married Maurice W. Kepner on October 5, 1940 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca, IL; he preceded her in death. Jane was born and raised in Seneca, moving to Springfield in 1943. She attended the College of St. Francis, IL State, and the University of Illinois. Mrs. Kepner was an accomplished artist and elementary school teacher in both Depue and Seneca, IL. She was a member of the Springfield Art Association, King’s Daughters Circle, Sangamo Club, and Christ the King Catholic Church where she was in the Altar and Rosary Society and attended daily mass. Jane was a great mother and the cornerstone of the family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She took great pride in attending the masses that her grandchildren served. Jane also enjoyed art, traveling, and dancing. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one son: Daniel E. (wife, Susan) Kepner of Springfield; five daughters: Carol L. (husband, Norm) Reiser of Morton, IL, Bonnie J. (husband, Claude) Kracik of Park Ridge, IL, Maureen (husband, Alan) Bradish of Jacksonville, Karen (husband, Frank) Giganti of Springfield, and Mary Jane Kepner of LaGrange, IL; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister: Mary E. Comegys of Springfield; and one niece: Paula Stogsdill. The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry, Springfield with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
