Jane E. Stephenson

She was born to the late Rupert and Betty Kilgore on July 5th, 1936, in Muncie, Indiana. Jane graduated from University High School in 1954 and received a nursing degree from the Illinois Masonic Hospital in 1958. She married George W. Stephenson Jr. in 1963, they lived with their children in Quincy, Illinois, before relocating to Hendersonville, Tennessee in 1986. Jane returned to Illinois, and resided at Montvale Estates Retirement Community in Springfield since 2002.

Jane was a Registered Nurse until she retired and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.

Jane was a long-time volunteer at the Quincy Community Little Theater where she was the costumer, President of the Board, and President of the Footlighters. She loved to travel, cross stitch, sew and spend time with her family. Her determination and strong will were admired by all who knew her.

Jane was predeceased by her husband George W. Stephenson, Jr. in 1997, her sister Rebecca Schott, and both her parents. She is survived by four children: Douglas Stephenson (Christina) of Norman, Oklahoma, Diane Burton (Dewayne) of Norman, Oklahoma, Cynthia Chase (Steven) of Springfield Il, and George Stephenson III (Annette) of Arlington Heights, IL. She also is survived by eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Jane will be interred next to her parents, husband, and sister at East Lawn Cemetery in Bloomington, Illinois. A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Sugar Creek United Methodist Church. Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
