Jerome "Jerry" L. Marion

Jerry was born March 22, 1939, in Springfield, the son of William H. and Mary Ellen Mahoney Marion. He married Joyce H. Miller on July 25, 1957, in Springfield; she preceded him in death in 2012.

Jerry attended Feitshans High School and later received his GED. He proudly served in the United States Army. He was a Billboard Poster for Imperial Outdoor Advertising for 38 years and later performed maintenance duties at Ramada LTD for 14 years. He was also a courier for the Bank of Springfield. Jerry was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan. Jerry coached baseball for 20 years and loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandson, Adam.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Ted, and Eddie Marion; and three sisters, Violet DeSoto, Frances Wheeler, and Molly Sturgis.

He is survived by his son, Greg (Geri Lynne) Marion of Springfield; grandson, Adam Marion; and five sisters, Pat Scronce of Belleville, Peggy Millar of New Baden, Theresa Smith, Barbara Seward, and Mary Ellen Clemons, all of Springfield.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield.

Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. James Hennig officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
