JoAnn Cavallo, 97, of Springfield, formerly of Chatham, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. JoAnn was born February 9, 1916, in Albia, Iowa, the daughter of the late Dominic and Angelina Corso Cambruzzi. She married John P. Cavallo, who preceded her in death in 1999; her brother Gasper Cambruzzi, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Cavallo was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed by her beloved daughter Angela (Richard) Cavallo Best of Chatham. Mrs. Cavallo worked for several years at the Illinois Secretary of State with the Department of Motor Vehicles. JoAnn will be remembered for her strength and vigor in life. Private graveside services were held Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Calvary Cemetery Springfield, IL, with Fr. Dennis Kollross officiating. Mrs. Cavallo loved her companion pet dog so much, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road, Springfield, Illinois 62702-1766. Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, is serving the Cavallo family.
