

Mr. Lane was a World War II Veteran serving in the Military Police in Germany. Upon his discharge, he started farming his family’s land in Horse Cave, KY where he farmed for over 30 years. Joel then moved to the Buffalo, IL area to farm with his brother-in-law. It was here that he met his wife, Virgie and they celebrated 43 years of marriage. JT collected keys, enjoyed carpentry, and loved his rose garden.
Joel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virgie, a son, Tony Lewis and a daughter, Regina "Dale" Bauereiss. He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Joel is survived by his children: Alice (Walter) Kuizinas of Springfield; Joseph “Joe” (Judy) Lewis of Pleasant Plains; Mary Lewis of Springfield; Sarah “Ann” Budd (Companion, Tom Thomas) of Athens; Rita (Mike) Graham of Springfield; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen, Springfield, IL, where visitation will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2-4 pm. Funeral services will be at 12:30 Monday, January 12, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will be Monday at Camp Butler National Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
