

John C. Dietel IV, 91, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away at his home, Friday, August 23, 2013 surrounded by his family.
John was born in Springfield, December 23, 1921 the son of John C and Edna Longhty Dietel III. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. He earned a Service Stripe, the American Campaign Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, and the World War ll Victory Medal.
John married Vera June Edward December 28, 1942 in Woodville, MS. and she survives. He is also survived by his children;, John C. (wife Phyllis) Dietel V. of Metamora, IL, Greg (wife Linda) Dietel of Springfield, Doug (wife Kathy) of Edinburg, IL, Darcy (husband Tom) Ford and Kimberly (husband Ray) Karcher both of Springfield. He has 11 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jeffery.
John was the owner and operator of John Dietel & Son Heating and Air Conditioning. He was an avid hunter of Bear, Deer, Rabbits and Ducks. He enjoyed the sport and more so, sharing his success with family and friends. He loved to golf, especially with his children and enjoyed fishing.
John's services will be private for his family. A graveside service with full military honor's provided by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
