John W. Gillette, 58, of Springfield, passed away at 7:31 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his residence. John was born on November 13, 1959 in Springfield, the son of Joseph and Beverly Walutkevicz Gillette. John served his country in the United States Army. He was employed by Farm Supply in Auburn for 15 years. He also worked on automobiles, especially engines, and was always willing to offer his help in fixing a vehicle. John enjoyed listening to country and jazz music, as well as singing and dancing. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Gillette. He is survived by his mother, Beverly Gillette; two children, Andrew Travous of Auburn and Angela Travous of Springfield; and five siblings, Cathy Eliason, Don (wife, Jessica) Gillette, Ron (wife, Donna) Gillette, James Gillette, all of Springfield, and Joe Gillette of Mattoon, IL. Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 4688 Old Route 36, Springfield.
