

John "Jack" Healy, 75, of Springfield, died on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. Jack was born December 28, 1932 in Streator, IL, the son of Mark and Inez Helander Healy. He married Helen Grundy on November 14, 1964 in Springfield. Jack graduated from Wenona Communty High School in 1950. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a commercial/instrumented rate pilot. He earned a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois and joined Hanson Professional Services Inc. in 1962. He retired as Senior Vice President of Hanson in 1995. He formerly was a registered professional engineer in 10 states and a registered structural engineer in Illinois. Mr. Healy was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, the Illinois Geologic Advisory Committee and the American Legion in Raymond, IL. He was an honorary member of the Association of State Dam Safety Engineers. He served on the Springfield College in Illinois Board, St. Martin de Porres Board, St. John's Samaritan Board, Springfield Youth Hockey Board, and Springfield Jr. Blues Board. He is a member of the Springfield Youth Hockey Hall of Fame. He volunteered with the St. John's Samaritans as an escort and treasurer of the Samaritan Board, St. Martin de Porres Center, and walking scorer for the LPGA for over fifteen years. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Pat, Edward, and Mark Healy. He is survived by his wife, Helen Healy of Springfield; one son, Tim (wife, Ann Cavanagh) Healy of Springfield; two daughters, Lori (husband, Michael) Pacer of Batavia and Tammy Woodward of Hilton Head Island, SC; six grandchildren; six nieces, and nine nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, IL 62704. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. A concelebrated funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, principal celebrant. Entombment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin de Porres Center, 1725 S.
