

John Heidinger, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday October 26, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born on April 24, 1926 in Springfield to John and Margaret Lawson Heidinger. He married Betty Grammer in Springfield on June 12, 1949 and she survives.
Mr. Heidinger is also survived by one daughter Margaret (John) McKibbin, one daughter-in-law Judy Heidinger, five grandchildren: Allyson (Mike) Jerome, John (Kim) McKibbin, John (Elizabeth) Heidinger, Jennifer (Rich) Ramsey and Heather Heidinger and nine great-grandchildren: Savannah Jerome, Scarlett Jerome, Kayden McKibbin, Pierce Jerome, Lexie McKibbin, Sophia Heidinger, Julianne Jerome, Sage Ramsey and John-Aslan Heidinger. He was preceded in death by his son John Heidinger.
John was a US Navy Veteran serving in World War II in the South Pacific on the USS Chevalier DD 805. He worked at Allis Chalmers before joining the US Postal Service starting as a letter carrier and retiring as a supervisor in 1990 after thirty five years. John was a member of Tyrian Lodge #333 AF & AM, Springfield Consistory, Ansar Shrine, Ansar Patrol serving as Major, Ansar Senior Patrol, Springfield Court #20 ROJ, American Legion Post #32, Life Member of VFW Post #755, and he was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 65 years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday October 29, 2014 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, and burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Tyrian Lodge #333 will conduct a masonic service Wednesday at 10:00am at Bisch West followed by a visitation until the time of funeral service.
