

John “Jake” Jacobs, Jr., 75, of Springfield, died at 10:42 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2005 at Memorial Medical center. Jake was born September 5, 1929 in Springfield the son of John W. Jacobs I and Lucille Rochelle Jacobs. He married JoAnn Blisset on September 5, 1963 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on February 9, 2000. Mr. Jacobs had worked for Sangamon Electric for 20 years before becoming a self-employed mechanic. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and a member of the Flying Club in Taylorville. He was also preceded in death by his parents and half brother, Kenny. He is survived by two sons: John W. Jacobs III of Cantrall and Mike Jacobs of Springfield; one daughter: Terry Lynn McKinney of Pleasant Plains; three grandchildren: Crystal Dunavan, Matthew McKinney and Maria McKinney; two half brothers: Carl Jacobs of Cantrall and Stanley Jacobs of Springfield; two brothers-in-law: Allen Blisset and Ralph Blissett and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Harrod officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors. The family of John “Jake” Jacobs, Jr. is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
