John L. Sanford

John L. Sanford, 71, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Capitol Care Center. John was born July 31, 1944 in Ottawa, IL, the son of Gordon and Thelma Livingston Sanford. He married Theresa C. Nagle on February 16, 1974 in Taylorville, IL. John was a graduate of Feitshans High School and was a Snap-On Tools dealer for 29 years. He was an avid fisherman and Illini basketball fan. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Theresa C. Sanford of Springfield; son, Roger "Tony" (wife, Cristina) Dingman of Los Angeles, CA; two daughters, Gina (husband, John) Martin of Williamsville and Sherilyn (husband, Morgan) Malmberg of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Kassandra Horrighs, Peter (wife, Victoria) and Jessica Saratavich, Brittney (husband, Brandon) Harlan, and Carlee Malmberg; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Murphy of CT; beloved cat, Buttercup; and several nieces. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
