It is with great sadness that the family of Johnna Joline Hood (age 30) announces her passing on July 22, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Johnna will be lovingly remembered by her mother and step-father CJ Hood and Gary Edwards of Springfield, father and step-mother Kyle and Lynda Hood of Girard, twin sister Kara (Donn) Hamilton of Springfield, brother Daniel (Chassidy) Hood of Springfield, sisters Michele Roderick (fiancé Mike) of Lakewood, CO, and Jessica (Eddie) Hamilton of Girard, brothers Robert Edwards of Waverly and Andrew Kelley of Springfield, and her best-friend Sharah Garrett of Springfield. Johnna will also be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and god-children (Brian, Meghan, Riley, Ciera, Reise, Hayleigh and Talor), and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and friends. Johnna was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Loyal and Joan Hood and her brother Jon Hunt.
Johnna, born in Peoria, spent most of her life in the Springfield area. A graduate of Waverly High School and McKendree College (Lebanon, IL) she was working towards her Masters of Communication at UIS. Ever joyful and a “social butterfly,” Johnna strived to be a friend to everyone and to ensure that everyone was cared for, respected and included. She was a rock for us all, especially during her overwhelming battle with synovial sarcoma. She was a blessing to so many and will be forever missed.
A celebration of Johnna’s life will begin with a visitation on Friday, July 29th from 5-8 pm at Bisch Funeral Home, 2931 South Koke Mill Road, Springfield, IL, and will continue with funeral services to begin at 10 am on Saturday, July 30th at the same location. Internment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery 4688 Old Rt. 36, Springfield IL.
