

Jordan B. Ewing, 75, Springfield, died at 7:25 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2003 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born on February 26, 1928 in Flemington, NJ, the son of Judiah and Alice Barcroft Ewing. He married Dorothy A. Meyer on November 27, 1952 in Springfield Mr. Ewing served in the U. S. Army from August 1946 to February 1948, and earned the WWII Victory Medal. He attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. Mr. Ewing was employed at the State of Illinois Highway Department and later as a claims adjuster at Horace Mann Insurance Company, retiring in 1980. Mr. Ewing was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4179, Elks Lodge 158, and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother. He is survived by his wife; four daughters: Alaine M. Ewing, Lori A. (husband, Jim) Best, Lisa E. (husband, Larry) Riley, all of Springfield, and Linda A. (husband, Pete) Wayne of Decatur; one son: Craig B. (wife, Laura) Ewing of Springfield; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003. Funeral services will be held at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2003 with Rev. David Hoefler officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveteran’s Burial Detail of Sangamon County will perform military honors.
