

Joseph Paul Pasquale, 91, of Springfield, died at 8:55 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009 at St. John's Hospital. Joseph was born June 8, 1917 in Piney Fork, OH, the son of Saverio D. and Elizabeth Buzzari Pasquale. He married Edna Hammann in Springfield on March 22, 1985. Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the infantry from 1941 to 1943. He was employed as a mechanic by Amrhein bakery in Springfield although he was a carpenter by trade. He was a member of Teamsters Local Union 916. Joseph enjoyed collecting cans, riding his 3-wheel bicycle, fishing, woodworking and making yard ornaments. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Sylvia M. Pasquale; two sons, Michael A. and Paul Joseph Pasquale; a grandson, Michael Joseph Pasquale; and three sisters, Erma Benottini, Mary Perigun and Kate Bartolozzi. He is survived by his wife, Edna Pasquale of Springfield; one son, Joseph Paul Pasquale, Jr of Springfield; two daughters, Patricia Hammann Pasquale and Maria Louise Pasquale both of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Christine, Jill, Braden, Quentin, Joesia and Bradley Pasquale and Brandon Steele; four great-grandchildren, Kierra Ashley and Jordan Anthony Pethy, DeMarea Pasquale and Zachary Aaron Daugherty; one brother, Emil Pasquale of Springfield; and one sister, Betty Godwaski of Sherman. Family will receive friends from 9:15 10:15 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Graveside ceremonies will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009 at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
