

Joseph D. Squires, 61, of Riverton, passed away at 10:49 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 after a brief illness with cancer at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 20, 1950 to Coy and Alma Squires. He married Kathy Westover and they later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, J. Demmon (Ashley) of Springfield; daughter, Tina of Bath; two step-daughters, Janis Westover of Springfield and Marie (Scott) Niccum of Charleston; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonnithin of Springfield; two brothers, Ron (Jane) of Wasola, MO and Coy (Susan) of Riverton; sister, Glenda (Lonnie) Heffren of Charleston; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Joe was a veteran of the Army. He served in the Vietnam War from 1970 1972. He worked for the Village of Riverton, was a security guard at Cloud 9 ranch, a cook on a barge, and also had his own lawn care business. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Riverton Baptist Church, 975 Riverton Rd., Riverton, IL. Graveside Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. John Keys officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
