

Joseph Zappia, 84, of Springfield, passed away at 3:16 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2014 in Griggsville Township. Joseph was born June 11, 1930 in Sherman, the son of Carmen and Rose Corsaro Zappia. He married Mabel "Kay" Follis on June 26, 1952; she preceded him in death on December 19, 2011. Joseph served his country in the US Air Force serving during the Korean War. He worked in many capacities within Pillsbury before retiring in 1987. He enjoyed golf, watching all sports, and was a life-time member of the American Legion Post #32. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sally Hahn; grandson, Ralph Hahn; seven sisters, Cozetta and Rose Zappia, Florence Corgliano, Minnie Noga, Margaret Wheeler, Josephine Lombardo, Jennie Fricke; three brothers, Anthony Rock, Dominic and John Zappia. He is survived by his son, John (wife, Sheryl) Zappia of Springfield; his daughter, Lisa (husband, David) Gaca of Peoria; four grandchildren, Richard Browning, McKenzie and Katherine Zappia, and Erica Gaca; four great- grandsons; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1735 South Camp Butler Rd., with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
