

Joy Ruth Huddleston, 84, of Springfield, passed away at 11:25 p.m. on Monday, September 7, 2015 at St. John's Hospice. Joy was born January 15, 1931 in Mound, LA, the daughter of Henry G. and Mary E. Coltharp Malray. She married Louis A. Huddleston on June 13, 1948; he preceded her in death in 2004. Joy was a cook at Little Flower School for 13 years, a cook at Lincoln Land for 3 years, and a Manager at Kresge's for 5 years. Joy was a member of the DAV Auxillary and made historical flags for the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and camping. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ruth Sarchi; and two brothers, Ludie Boyd and Henry Malray. She is survived by her sons, George (wife, Mary) of Springfield, Richard (wife, Pat) of Edinburg, Ken (wife, Barb) of Edinburg, James of Owensboro, KY, and Edward (wife, Melissa) Huddleston of Manhattan, KS; two daughters, Elaine Huddleston of Springfield and Linda (husband, Richard) Schlabach of Nashville, TN; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Malray of Longview, TX and Lubie (wife, Juanita) Malray of Paducah, KY; and one sister, Ruby Burton of Cottage Grove, TN. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Church of the Little Flower with Rev. John Nolan, celebrant. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies. Burial will be held at a later date in Paducah, KY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr., Springfield, IL 62703 or a charity of the donor's choice.
