Joyce "Dee" Dene McGlennon

Joyce Dene "Dee-Dee" McGlennon, 57, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center. Dee-Dee was born on July 24, 1951 in Tarpon Springs, FL, the daughter of James Paul and Margaret McGuire Sasser. She married Terrence P. McGlennon on June 17, 1972 in Georgia. Dee-Dee graduated from Sarasota High School in FL. She later opened a home daycare center where the children in her care adored her and looked forward to going to her home. Dee-Dee loved shopping and looked forward to her Thursday nights out with friends. She had recently traveled to Australia and England. She loved her family and friends and was especially devoted to her two grandchildren. Preceding Dee-Dee in death were her father; step-father, Butch Adair; her brother, Buddy Sasser; two brother in-laws, Christian Brother Terence "Tommy" McGlennon and Darrell Barger; and her father and mother in-law , Thomas and Dorothy McGlennon. She is survived by her husband, Terry of Springfield; her children, Eric (companion, Elsie Chan) McGlennon of England; Renee (husband, Brad) Stanton of Springfield; Joshua Michael (companion, Latasha Owens) McGlennon of Springfield, Jessie (husband, Jeremy) Maddox of Rochester; her beloved grandchildren, Cole and Libby; siblings, Marlene (husband, Tal) Meriman of Sarasota, FL, Deloris (husband, Jerry) Oliver of Valdosta, GA, Jimmy (wife, Beth) Sasser, Robin (wife, Sylvia) Adair of Sarasota, FL, Rose Adair of Sarasota; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A prayer service will be held at 5:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2008 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence, Springfield, with Rev. Peter Harman, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dee McGlennon Memorial Fund in care of Heartland Credit Union, 2717 Sangamon Ave., Springfield, IL 62702.
