Karen Grace Collier

She was born on March 28, 1941, in Rosiclare, Hardin County, Illinois, the daughter of Marvin E. and Roberta Lois (Walker) Turley. She married Richard August Neuhoff in 1960, who preceded her in death on December 23, 1975, at the age of 41. The couple had one son, Richard Wade Neuhoff. She was later married to Don Collier, of Springfield.

Karen grew up in Rosiclare, Illinois, attending Rosiclare High School and graduating in 1959. She moved to Springfield shortly after at the age of 18, and has lived in Sangamon County ever since.

Karen worked for the State of Illinois when she first moved to Springfield. She later took a job with Business Services for Springfield Public Schools, retiring in June of 2002. She was incredibly passionate about genealogy, loved to read, and had a soft spot in her heart for dogs, but above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends most. Karen was of the Baptist faith.

Karen is survived by her sons, Wade Neuhoff and Chris Neuhoff; brother, Marvin Edward Turley and sister-in-law, Lori; daughter-in-law, Diane Folder; granddaughters, Tiffany (Neuhoff) Unverzagt, Alexandra (Chris) Hanson, Rachel (Justin) Law, Shannon Wyzard, Tosha (Mickey) Horn, and Kattlyn Rhodes; grandsons, Dalton Folder and Aaron Cody; great-grandchildren Peyton, Benny, Alice and Aaliyah; niece, Lindsay Turley (husband, John Mark Boling,); and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rich; sister-in-law, Ruth Neuhoff; granddaughter, Samantha Raelynn “Sam” and Cody-Neuhoff; great-granddaughter, Aadinynah Grace Neuhoff; and her good baby Minnie.

Karen's wishes were to be cremated, and her ashes to be interred alongside her first husband, Rich. Family and friends are requested for services on October 3, 2024, at 1:00p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. Following the funeral will be a memorial at the Chatham American Legion Post 759, 206 W. Chestnut St., Chatham, Illinois from 2:30-4:30p.m.
