Kay McClain

She was born Dec. 13, 1939, the daughter of the late Rolla C. and Christine (Six) Sorrells. She married Jim McClain in Ashland, IL and they were married for 33 years.

Mrs. McClain was a 2nd grade teacher in Springfield School District 186. She was a member of the Teacher’s Retirement Club, Springfield Newcomer’s Club, AAUW (American Association of University Women), and various bridge clubs. She loved ballroom dancing and one of her highlights was dancing with Myron Florian of the Lawrence Welk Band. She was also a St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.

Mrs. McClain is survived by her husband, Jim, of Springfield, a daughter Ann McCullough of Murfreesboro, TN, a sister, Linda Sorrells of Normal, IL, 2 step-children, Martin McClain of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Mike (wife Kaye Lynn) McClain of Bloomington, IL.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Brian Kirk McCullough.

Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL 62711 where visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ashland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Home Hospice in Springfield.
