Keith was born in Pekin, IL, May 23, 1946 the son of Henry and Eileen (Laumeier) Hilst. They preceded him in death, Henry in 1998 and Eileen in 2010.
After graduation from Mason City High School, Keith served his country during the Vietnam War, earning a Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Over Seas Bar, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Dev.-60, and a Marksman Certification (Rifle).
Keith retired from the Caterpillar Tractor Company after many years of service. He also drove for Curry Truck Lines and Taloma Elevator. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City, IL, the VFW and the American Legion.
Keith married Judy Chadwick and she survives. Also surviving are his brother, Gary (Phyllis) Hilst of Mason City, IL, his sister, Yvonne (John) Zumstein of Springfield, IL, his step son, Chris (Millie) Rose of St. Joseph, IL, two step-daughters; Tawni (Cooper) Johnson of Lewiston, IL and Stormie (Tony) DeJaynes of Springfield, IL, and four grandchildren: Risty Johnson, Kimberlea Johnson, Allison Rose and Adam Rose. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation Rites will be accorded by the Bisch Crematory, Springfield, IL.
A memorial visitation will be hosted by the family at Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL 62711 Monday, May 13, 2019 from 9:30 am until the time of a Memorial Service there at 10:30 am. Rev. John Johnson will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Department of Defense and the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
