

Kenneth R. Folks, 61, of Springfield, died at 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Kenneth was born December 25, 1951 in Bloomington, the son of Joseph and Della Treash Folks. He married his soul mate, Laura Keiller Rape on October 1, 2005; she preceded him in death on November 6, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents. Kenneth attended Carl Sandburg Junior College and earned his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University. Kenneth worked for Goodwill as a counselor with their Springfield development activities. He was a member of Laurel United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong Cubs fan and enjoyed watching movies, and traveling to Chicago and St. Louis. He is survived by his siblings, Joella Folks of Woodbridge, VA and Ronald (Ludmila) Folks of Arlington, VA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; dozens of cousins; one great-great-niece; and his two cats, Sasha and Penny. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Laurel United Methodist Church, 631 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield with Rev. Jerry King officiating.
