

Kenneth W. Kirbach, 73, of Springfield, died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005 at his residence. Kenneth was born January 10, 1932 in Springfield, the son of Otto and Anna Schuck Kirbach. He married the love of his life, Georgianna “Dana” Raleeh on August 1, 1953 in Washington, D.C. where they were both serving in the Navy. He graduated from Mt. Olive High School in 1950. He served two years in the Army and four years in the Navy. While in the Navy, Ken was in President Truman’s honor guard. Mr. Kirbach and his wife operated the successful Springfield Construction Company for twenty-two years, and more recently the Jefferson West Mini Storage facility. He had been active in coaching Little League while his sons played, and was a faithful member of the congregation at St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4179. Ken was a born salesman and an inveterate “talker” yet his favorite times were when he was with his grandchildren: Jenna, Kyleigh, Lexi, Paige and Marc. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Georgianna “Dana” Kirbach of Springfield; one daughter: Kathy (husband, Scott) Eicher of Ojai, CA; two sons: William Mark and Robert J. (wife, Kaila) Kirbach both of Springfield; five grandchildren: Kyleigh, Lexi, Paige, Marc and Jenna; one brother: Ronald (wife, Cindy) Kirbach of Wood River; three aunts and several cousins. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield with Rev. Peter Harman celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield, IL 62702 or Hospice Care of Illinois, 720 N.
