

Laura D. Kulek, 81, of Springfield, died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2003 at St. John’s Hospital. Laura was born January 16, 1922 in Springfield, the daughter of John and Dorothy DiGirolamo Capranica. She married Francis Kulek August 2, 1941 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Mrs. Kulek was a homemaker and had worked for Shanklin’s factory. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking Italian dishes. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Thomas Kulek and a brother, John Capranica. She is survived by her husband: Francis of Springfield; two sons: Mike (wife, Doris) Kulek of Spaulding, James (wife, Glenna) Kulek of Springfield; four daughters: Dorothy Ston of Loami, Kathy (husband, Harry) Bottorff of Geneseo, Marian (husband, Jim) Burmeister of Springfield, Laurie Kulek of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren: Aneda (husband, Chuck), Chad (wife, Cheryl), Trisha, Emily, Mark, Stephanie, Jill, Sarah, Jason, Billy, Katie, Alisha, Kaitlyn, Jessica and Adam; three great grandchildren: Anthony, Joie and Clayton; one sister: Marie Cullen of Pasadena, CA; one brother: Gilbert (wife, Dorothy) Capranica of Springfield; her dog: Mollie and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2003. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2003 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas R. Liebler celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius School, 2125 N. 21st St., Springfield, IL 62702. The family of Laura D.
