

Lawrence W. “Larry” Fisherkeller, 76 of Springfield died at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 07, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center. Mr. Fisherkeller was born November 25, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Carl and Beatrice Baum Fisherkeller. He married Barbara Ackers in 1954; they later divorced. He married Shirley Budberg in 1985. Mr. Fisherkeller graduated from Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Springfield High School, Springfield College in Illinois, and received his degree in marketing and industrial management from the University of Illinois at Champaign in 1951. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 44th Division Band. Mr. Fisherkeller also served in Korea with the Fox Company, 7th Regiment, 3rd Division, receiving the Korean Services Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal; and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was a past member of Downtown Rotary and an active member of Railsplitters Sertoma in Springfield, Elks Lodge 158, Springfield Motor Boat Club, American Legion Post 32, Grasshopper Golf Group, Elks Tuesday and Thursday Golf Leagues and a regular at Bunn Park Golf Course. Mr. Fisherkeller was Secretary-Treasurer of the B & F Toggery and an active participant in the business for 50 years, retiring in 1996 after liquidating the business. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Havey. He is survived by his wife: Shirley; one daughter: Dr. Susan Fisherkeller, Springfield; one son: John, Springfield; two step-daughters: Becky (husband, Don) Langen, Litchfield, and Connie (husband, Randy) Speck, Springfield; two sisters: Betty Pine, Jacksonville and Dorothy Knous, Petersburg; two brothers: Carl Robert (wife, Geri) Fisherkeller, Sarasota, Fl and Jack (wife, Carolyn) Fisherkeller of Springfield; three step grandchildren: Douglas, Scott and Jennie Langen and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 2-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Poole. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
