

He was born in Springfield, August 1, 1961. He earned his Masters of Arts degree in 1994 from Sangamon State University, now UIS. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his Uncle Dale Gilbert.
Jerry worked for several state agencies including the EPA, Department of Children and Family Services, Emergency Management Services, where he served on the Y2K Team, and most recently as a Senior Public Administrator for the Department of Aging.
Jerry was listed with the “Who’s Who Among Students in American University and Colleges and was a former member of AFSCME. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Ram fan. He was a collector of Baseball Cards, enjoyed wine and the craft of making wine, going to Auctions with his Uncle Dale, and the Farmer’s Market on Thursday evenings with his family. He was known for his pride of home ownership and its appearance, love of movies and entertaining. Jerry was devoted to his family and friends to the extent of attending his friend’s children’s activities.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Lyons of Pawnee, a sister, Sherri (husband Marcus) Schnetz of Springfield, an aunt, Sandra Myers of Springfield, and several cousins, including; Bob (wife Mary Beth) Myers, Mark (wife Jackie) Myers, and Keith (companion Shelia) Myers all of Chatham, Dr. Kris (husband Steve) Myers-Stuenkel of Dawson, Zachary, Noah, Tayler, Alex and Wesley, Myers, Christopher Pettit, and Joey Stuenkel.
Visitation: Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 4-7 pm at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen Springfield.
Funeral Service: Thursday June 14, 2012 at 10 am at the Pawnee United Methodist Church 402 6th Street, Pawnee, IL 62558 Rev. Florene Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, those that wish may direct memorial contributions to the Pawnee High School or the Illinois Humane Society in his memory.
