

Lois Ley, 94, of Springfield, passed on August 1, 2012 at St. John's Hospital. Lois was born in Clay City, Indiana on September 14, 1917 and graduated from Clay City High School in 1936. Lois lived in Clay City for 86 years, wintering in Bonita Springs, Florida for 20 years later in her life, and finally residing in Springfield, Illinois since October 3, 2004. She married Claude L. Weaver of New Amsterdam, Indiana on September 6, 1945; he preceded her in death on February 23, 1973. They had one son, Timothy A. Weaver of Springfield, Illinois, who is married to the former Edith Vanzo of Hammond, Indiana. They have two daughters (Lois' granddaughters) Amanda L. of Chicago, Illinois and Jennifer L. who is married to Matthew Bolton Tracy of Bloomington, Indiana. They have one son, Bolton Weaver Tracy (Lois' great-grandson). Lois married John E. Ley of Highland, Indiana on September 6, 1984; he preceded her in death on October 3, 2003. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Clay City, Indiana, the Methodist Church of Clay City, Indiana and the Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, Florida. Lois was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star in Clay City, Indiana. She was also an active member of the Veteran's of Foreign War Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge where she loved to dance. Lois was an active member of the "Red Hats" at Montvale Estates in Springfield, Illinois, as well as an avid Euchre and Bingo player. Arrangements are being handled by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with final services at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City, Indiana provided by Shoppenhorst Funeral Home.
