Lorraine Lewis

She was born in West Frankfort, IL. December 20, 1925 the daughter of James and Laura Melliges Florio. She married Harvey Lewis November 8, 1950 and he preceded her in death September 7, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Poe and a step-daughter, Caroline Eldridge.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by two daughters: Sheila (Bradley) Zeiger of Riverton, and Penny Grizzle of Springfield, two sons: T. Michael (Donna) Lewis of St. Peters, MO., and Robert D. Lewis of Sherman, one stepson Harvey Charles (Pat) Lewis of Beaver Dam, WI., nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Lorraine was the owner and operator of Lewis & Associates for many years. She was a past president of the Edison Junior High School PTA, a Girl Scout Leader, a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts, a Life Member of the Ridgley PTA, served on the Board of Directors of the Falcon Drum and Bugle Corp, and was past treasurer of the Springfield Zoological Society.

She was a long time member of Central Baptist Church where she was a member of the Builder’s Sunday School Class. She also had taught Sunday school at the church for many years.

Lorraine was devoted to her family. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attended their many activities. She loved her flower gardens.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen where a visitation will be from 2-5 pm Sunday, October 14, 2012. The funeral service will be held at 10 am Monday October 15, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Mary Ellen Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Those that wish may direct memorial contributions in her honor to the Central Baptist Church.
