The photo of my brother Marc as a Boatswain's Mate 2 in the US Navy was taken in1969 at the age of 20.  He was smart and good looking.  In his 65 years he had tales to tell of his ups and downs of life and the many people he tried to help.  His teen years were spent in Quincy, IL where both his parents were living until they died at a young age (father Paul E. Millen deceased in 1965 age 49, mother Norma Jeanne Millen deceased in 1971 age 51).  After spending five years in the Navy, graduating college, and a marriage of a few years, he spent most of his adult life in Springfield, IL. His sister Madelaine and brother-in-law Raffaele Botti reside in Bonita Springs, FL where they have lived for eleven years after retiring from their careers in suburban Chicago.  Marc was the proud uncle of Dr. Torey Botti, his wife Lauren Geary Botti and a great-uncle to Lilia 6 and Ilario 8 of Flagstaff, AZ.  Marc    adored his cat Monet.

Marc loved good food.  I have fond memories of him taking a bite, shaking his head with a "mmph" sound and declaring it "delicious". He also loved dogs and cats.  When Marc was three he came up with the name Brown Sugar for our first Siamese cat.  As a high schooler he surprised us by adopting another Siamese cat.  He enjoyed attending church and being an usher at Sunday services.  Reading and discussing political issues was another pass-time for him.  He devoted much of his life sponsoring and helping men and women through AA's Twelve Step Program.  He was a dedicated security guard for Universal Security Service on the second shift and enjoyed his duties in a Springfield government building. 

His ashes were interred at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL on June 10, 2015.

Marc passed too soon from this world.  He had more adventures to live, more wisdom to impart, more good meals to appreciate and a few dreams to fulfill.  May he rest in peace in God's loving embrace.

The passion of Marc's life was his openness and generosity towards his fellow man.  His flame of compassion burned brightly as he reached out to help others.  May he rest in peace.

Sorry to hear of Marc's passing.  Had many constructive conversations with him while working the nightshift cleaning crew from BMS cleaning. Rest easy my friend. BJannesse

All of us on 2nd shift at 120 W. Jefferson miss Marc.  He was a colorful character and always brightened up our night.  RIP Marc
