

She was born on October 6, 1933 in Springfield, the daughter of the late Arthur James and Susan (Beeler) Fox. She married William Kloppenburg and he preceded her in death. She later married James Eastman on January 18, 1996.
Marilyn graduated from Lanphier High School. After graduation she attended Brown’s Business College where she also joined the Alpha Iota, a sorority for women in business. After receiving her degree, she was employed by General Electric Company in Bloomington, IL. It was there that she met Ronald Reagan, who was the spokesman for General Electric Theater. She later moved to Springfield and was employed by Truck Centers, Inc in sales. She later went on to work for the Illinois Education Association, Astro Travel, and, after obtaining a securities and insurance license, became a self-employed Financial Advisor until retirement. Marilyn was a member of Capitol Canine Training Club, Springfield Ceramics and Crafts Club, and Lincoln Land Depression Era Glass and Pottery Club. She also volunteered at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
Marilyn is survived by her husband James Eastman of Springfield; 3 step-children, Elizabeth (husband Tom) McCarthy of Bolingbrook, IL, Roger Eastman of Redondo Beach, CA, and Janet (husband David) Parkerson of Naperville, IL; 4 step-grandchildren, Richie, Ryan, Matthew, and J.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband William Kloppenburg; 3 brothers, Robert, Ken, and Don Fox; and 2 sisters, Alice and Edith Fox.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, Springfield. A Memorial Service will be held on March 5, 2022 at 11 a.m. at West Side Christian Church.
