Marjorie Lucille Peck, age 91, of Springfield passed into eternity November 28, 2011 at the Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Marjorie was born July 26, 1920 in Springfield, the daughter of Ollie and David Gilpin. She was united in marriage to Gilbert Meyer Peck on June 17, 1939 at Stuart Street Christian Church in Springfield.
Marjorie Peck was employed by the State of Illinois. Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Department of Conservation (DNR), Division of Wildlife Resources.
She was a lifelong Christian and a member of First Christian Church. Marjorie, along with a number of other members from the First Christian Church, was instrumental in founding the Parkway Christian Church in Springfield.
Marjorie was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Abraham Lincoln Chapter.
Marjorie is survived by two sons Richard N. (wife, Nancy) of Marion, IL. and David L. ( wife, Carolyn) of Pensacola, FL, four grandchildren: Bradley M. (wife, Jennie) of Mapleton, IL, Monica A. (Peck) Flaska (husband, Jim Flaska) of St. Joseph, MO, James D. (wife, Heather) of Pensacola FL and Michelle C. Peck of Pensacola, FL; four great grandchildren: Anna E. Peck of Mapleton, IL, Isabella S. Flaska of St. Joseph, MO, Celia Flaska of St Joseph, MO; Lucy J. Peck of Pensacola, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Myer Peck, her parents, brothers David N. and Gerald T. Gilpin and infant sister Pauline.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 2, 9:00 AM at the Bisch & Son Funeral Home 505 East Allen Street. Service will be held at Bisch & Son Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00 AM, with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church.
