

Marshall “Mike” Dirksen, 68, of Springfield, died at 8:00 a.m. Friday, April 02, 2004 at his home. Mike was born May 2, 1935 in Jacksonville, the son of Marty and Mary Helen Deathrage Dirksen. He married Barbara Rimkus. Mr. Dirksen was employed as a pressman for Frye-Williamson Press for 25 years, City of Springfield Printshop for 15 years, doorman with the House of Representatives and as a bailiff at the county building. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the 101st Airborne from 1958-1959. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council. #364, St. Agnes Holy Name Society and the Local Pressman’s Union. He was also a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Barbara of Springfield; one son; Michael (wife, Linda) Dirksen of Springfield; two daughters: Michelle and Lisa Dirksen both of Springfield; two grandchildren: Alicia and Michael Dirksen of Springfield; one sister: Mary Lou (husband, Bill) Saucier of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave. Springfield with Rev. Msgr. Patrick J. Wright V.F. celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors.
