Mary Lemley Evans, 88, of Springfield died at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2004 at St. John’s Hospice. Mary was born October 14, 1915 in Hope, AR the daughter of Kendall and Janet McRae Lemley. She married William Evans in 1945 in Hope, AR; he preceded her in death in 1984. Mrs. Evans received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Arkansas. Earlier in her life she worked as a librarian and was also a certified laboratory assistant. She was a member of Cathedral Church of St. Paul and she enjoyed gardening. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Janet Stone. She is survived by one son: Ken (wife, Rebecca) Evans of Springfield; one sister: Julia Ellis of Hope, AR; two nieces; two nephews and one cousin. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of Illinois, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL 62707. Remains were cremated. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2004 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hope, AR.
