
Mary Jo Tappana, 89, of Springfield, died at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield. Mary Jo was born on December 28, 1914 in Rocky Comfort, MO, daughter of Horace and Myrtle Davidson Goostree. She married Francis Gene Tappana in 1934; he preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Tappana and her husband owned and operated the Tappana Pharmacy in Stroud, Oklahoma for 24 years. She was a member of Business Professional Women Mother’s Club in Stroud and later the Parkway Christian Church in Springfield. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Jerry Tappana, and one sister. She is survived by her daughter: Dr. Cindy Terry of Springfield; nine grandchildren: Rhonda (husband, Alix) Armstead of Springfield, Lisa (husband, Don) Rieck of Geneva, IL, Paul (wife, Candice) Tappana of Rogers, AR, Debra (husband, John) Sweatt of Hot Springs, AR, Teresa Harris of Hot Springs, AR, Jerry Justin (wife, Tina) Tappana of Tulsa, OK, Andrea (husband, Dwayne) Anderson of Round Rock, TX, Chris Johnson of Hot Springs, AR, and Joni Johnson of Stroud, OK; ten great grandchildren and one sister: Forstine Koelker of Arlington, TX. Friends may call at Parkway Christian Church, 2700 Lindbergh Blvd, Springfield from 10-11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Parkway Christian Church, 2700 Lindbergh Blvd, Springfield with Rev. Dan Krumrei officiating. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2004 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkway Christian Church, 2700 Lindbergh Blvd, Springfield, IL 62704.
