Mary Kathy Jones

Mary "Kathy" Jones, 65, of Springfield, passed away at 10:58 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Kathy was born on July 6, 1952 in Springfield, the daughter of John R. and Betty Hubbard Ackerman. Kathy was a graduate of Greenview High School. She was employed by the telephone company for more than 42 years, retiring from AT&T. Kathy was a member of Riverton United Methodist Church where she volunteered with the childrens group. She loved spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren and shopping trips with her mom, sister, and cousins. Kathy was a selfless person who always put other people first. She was known for her saying, "Love you, bye." Kathy was preceded in death by her father and sisters, Jane Ackerman and Charla Ackerman. She is survived by her two sons, Zachary (wife, Shannon) Jones of Springfield and Andy (wife, Katrina) Jones of Jerome; her mother, Betty Ackerman of Athens; two grandchildren, Parker and August Jones; four siblings, Sharon (husband, Nick) Caldwell of Riverton, John Ackerman of Athens, Keith (wife, Janet) Ackerman of Springfield, and Chris (wife, Jo Ellen) Ackerman of Springfield; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
